We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

Hospital Discharge Expected Today

Ryan Diviney has Baclofen Pump Removed

No complications cropped up over night (Yippee!), meaning Ryan is scheduled for discharge at noon today. That’s not to say Ryan had a good night. He didn’t. He was in discomfort that waxed and waned in direct correlation to the pain medication’s schedule. I will say, to my surprise, he isn’t moaning any longer. This […]

Baclofen Pump Bandage

It’s wonderful that Ryan has this surgery behind him, but the discomfort he is feeling is obvious. Even with a some heavy-duty pain killers. He’s moaning with almost every breath he exhales.

Ryan Diviney in Post-Op

I was able to update Ryan’s FaceBook page earlier, letting everyone who follows it know that he was out of surgery. He is doing well and all his vital signs are normal, with the exception of his pulse being slightly elevated.  This makes sense since he is undoubtedly in some pain that the medications can’t […]

Surgery Today: Part 2

October 3, 2012 by Ryan's Rally LLC 16 Comments

We arrived at Children’s Hospital around 5:30 am. Ryan is now in pre-op, but nothing can happen in getting him ready for surgery until Sue returns from registration. So, for now we just wait.  We arranged to have him taken directly from the ambulance to an isolated room, with isolation precautions.

Surgery Today: Part 1

October 3, 2012 by Ryan's Rally LLC 13 Comments

We’ve been up for hours. It was necessary to get Ryan ready for his baclofen pump removal surgery this morning. Sure, we did as much as we could yesterday night, but many things must happen at the very last second.  For example,  there’s no way to give him his scheduled medications before they’re due.
