We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

I Don’t Have Time to be This Busy

May 20, 2013 by Ryan's Rally LLC 6 Comments

These past two weeks were slammed. What the youngsters would call “crazy busy”. The good thing is that it had no impact on Ryan. It was all on me to get through some tedious legal information-gathering. The frustrating part is that all this work probably won’t even matter. Still, I must try — with all my might — to convince people and institutions (who should know better) that Ryan is entitled to his beliefs.

busyToday also marks a full ½-year since Ryan’s last urinary tract infection. I’m feeling quite confident that I now have this under control, if not solved entirely! You know what? I declare victory on this if he can make it a full year. Another milestone that he will meet at the end of the month is that it will be 2-½ years since his last respiratory infection! He’s amazing.

Yes, physically, Ryan has been quite healthy.

That’s not to say it’s easy  keeping him in pristine condition. Just these past two nights his oxygen was a little low. I suspect it’s caused by the pollen (mainly grass for us now). It forced us to deep-suction him; which is passing a catheter through his nasal cavity and down his throat to clear away mucus. Ryan HATES having this done to him and he coughs violently. We hate doing it. He fights us every step of the way (which is a good thing) by purposely turning away and doing what he is capable of to make us stop.

No doubt, he is definitely more alert — and hopefully, aware — of his environment.

So today will be dedicated to ridding the house of dust and allergens. I’ve already turned the stand-alone air filters to high. I flipped the whole-house HVAC to run continuously. I’ll replace all the filters (about a week earlier than scheduled). I’ll vacuum, I’ll mop. I’ll dust with a wet rag. I’ll shampoo the dogs. I’ll take all the laundry upstairs to be washed. My aim is to have it so clean that we could manufacture precision semi-conductors in this house!

Looks like another day that is “crazy busy”.

Too much on your plate, Ken! Call in the professionals for this big job. I think in Ryan’s best interest, it would be a covered expense. Wondering what the cost of a whole-house electronic air cleaner connected to the heating/air conditioning system would be. It might save Ryan from suctioning therapy.
