We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

Eye Surgery Expected

November 23, 2013 by Ryan's Rally LLC

Ryan’s Eyes.

I took Ryan in to the eye surgeon yesterday with the hope of getting the sutures in his eyelids relaxed; effectively opening them a bit more. That didn’t happen, but it seems like it will.

Ryan's Tarsorrhaphy

Ryan after having his eyes sewn mostly shut.

Currently, Ryan is roughly 75% closed in both eyes. The 25% that is open is medial (by the nose).

The plan now is to shift this opening more toward center and open it slightly more. Before this can happen, I will be on a conference call with the eye surgeon, corneal specialist, and Dr. Hinkle to make sure we all are in agreement. Assuming we are, we will move forward… probably next month.

This approach aligns more with Ryan’s natural pupil position and allow him to see from both eyes at the same time. It also provides the protection necessary to protect his eyes from “melting” due to dryness.  To do otherwise puts Ryan at a real risk of losing his eyes.

Sadly, this will involve surgery at the hospital.

Website Planned Maintenance.

It is my hope to upgrade this website on Monday (November 25th). I selected this date for a two reasons. For one, it is Thanksgiving week and readership, although always high, will be less. This way I hope to minimize the amount of people it affects (or even notices). Second, my daughter will not be home that day and Sue will be at work.

So you know, I intend to keep the website active throughout. Still, no promises that I’m good enough to pull this off.

This means it should be functioning, but might look (and act) a bit “quirky” from time-to-time; but there will be no risk to your computer. I’ll post to Ryan’s Facebook Fan Page when I’m beginning the upgrade and status you semi-regularily.

I wish to write on the site but the comment form isn’t working. Kinda sucks that his eye surgery has to be put off BUT sounds like it might be better in the long run. Kari still needs to get those girls lined up. 😉
