Ryan was moved from the ICU to the medical floor yesterday afternoon. There is a good chance he will be discharged sometime today. It’s sure been a long week. If you are just reading about Ryan’s recent illness or want to get caught up then just click on this link: Ryan in ICU: What If I Ever Miss Something? It’ll open in a new browser tab so you won’t need to come back to this post.
Right now we are waiting for his blood work results — drawn around 9:45 AM — to become available and evaluated. All results will be scrutinized but, primarily, we are looking at two measurements of his kidney function. If these results are continuing to move in the right direction then I’m not aware of any issues that would prevent his discharge.
I’m so damned ready to get him home that he’s already in his wheelchair! I simply need to latch his seatbelt and lock his chair into its vehicle-travel position.
We can’t get home quick enough! I so hope this happens today, but it’s always a waiting game. Wait. Wait. Wait.
The first task to tend to when Ryan arrives home is to strip him down and give him a nice, warm (and sanitizing) shower. His clothes will go straight into the washing machine (and dried on the sterilizing setting). I’ll be sure to do the same.
Then it’s time for him to get back to work on his regular therapies. I’ve been extremely anxious that he hasn’t had much activity in a week… aside from me stretching him in his ICU bed.
I’ll keep you posted, either way, if he stays here at the hospital or goes home today.
UPDATE (Monday, 01/15/18 @ 1:25 PM): We were just told that Ryan will be discharged today! For me, nothing is certain until we’re out the door.

Good news that Ryan might come home today. Don’t blame you for wanting him to have a nice shower and you too. Too many things going on in hospital that Ryan doesn’t need to be around Good luck ❤️

I’m glad this isn’t as serious as you first thought and that Ryan didn’t need surgery. I’m hoping by the time you read this, you are all home and comfortable in your own surroundings. I’m happy you came back to us with your posts about Ryan. I really did miss you all and still am in awe of you and Sue as parents. Keep on keeping on. Love you all.
