As promised earlier this week, I put together a short video of Ryan working out on the new Restorative Therapies equipment. I was excited before he started this therapy, but seeing it in action makes me even more. Here’s the thing too, Ryan is just starting. What you are about to see is minimal compared to where I expect him to be in just a month or two.
Ryan is ideally suited for this therapy. The main reason is that he has been doing a passively similar motion for over a year now on the ActivCycle (we are on our third unit now, burning out two motors). Ryan has also maintained his muscle mass, which is rarely seen with people in his condition. Through it all, he remained strong. I have no intention of stopping the ActivCycle either. My plan is to use it every other day (following the RT-300 FES day) when his muscles are repairing and building. It will be particularly useful is reducing the wear on the RT-300. Up until now, Ryan spent at least twelve hours a week getting this passive exercise.
As for the company, Restorative Therapies, they have been equally as wonderful as their product. Still, I’m reserving my final assessment until I see if they will supply us with a pulse oximeter, as they said the CEO indicated during the initial demonstration. Still, I have no reason to believe they won’t deliver on my expectations. I just hope I don’t need to keep asking.
Okay, so here is what you’re waiting for… the video.
I’ve uploaded this to the website’s Video page as well. I do this with almost all the videos I post.
Finally, I’m still trying my best to help offset the cost through contributions. If you can help, just click here.

Ryan, That is amazing news. i have seen this equipment at KKI with Courtney. She did workout on it a few times. It is great piece and you keep working hard. It is paying off Ryan. Your holding your head up, your muscles are working and they are sending that signal back up to the brain. Before you know it you wont even need that stimulation. I believe in God and I believe in you Ryan!! Oh you to Ken and Sue! LOL. Happy Easter Love Courtney and Becky

Great news… Ryan pushed the pedals for the full duration. The motor (cog wheel icon) would only flicker ocsassionally, and that didn’t happen until he was over 70% into the workout.

Wahoo!!! Way to go Ryan!!!

Just one week in and the improvements are becoming measurable. I noticed that Ryan was able to push the pedals for the first four minutes without 100% stimulation.

This video of Ryan is a great way to begin our day! <3 Prayers that this exercise/activity improves his bone density pronto!

Omigosh! Just as I’m thinking of sending over some fur scrubs for you, here’s Ryan in shorts! Brrr! It’s sounding like more cold nights on the way, and don’t we hate using that very expensive heating oil.
🙁
You are right — we’ve been waiting for this video. 🙂 Thanks very much, Ken. I think it will help all of us realize the importance of our donations for the RT-300 FES. Every dollar given counts!
Always here with kind thoughts, much hope, love and prayer. Stay warm!
