A short while back I mentioned the condition of my garage. I told how it slowly lost all organization. As we would return from hospitals and rehabilitation centers we’d unload everything and then go grab the items we needed, leaving everything else there to take up space.
Then one day last week I get an email from Kerry Thomas, a professional organizer. She owns the company An Organized Home. She said she’s been following the ryansrally.org website since learning about Ryan through last year’s Declutter Event.
Kerry tells me she wants to help get the garage organized again. She won’t take a penny from me to do it! I’m afraid she might not know what she’s getting herself into so I send her a picture (on left). I really thought I might not ever hear back from her again. I mean… seriously… look at that mess!
But I did. Immediately. Kerry couldn’t wait to help.
A crew from An Organized Home, including Kerry, showed up bright and early yesterday morning. They worked throughout the day (with no help from me) and magically uncovered my garage again. I must tell you, I was stunned when I turned the corner and looked at how marvelous it turned out. I was beside myself with excitement that Sue would now be able to pull her car in.
Now, here’s the funny thing. I intentionally left the garage door open so that Sue would see it when she arrived home from work. This was necessary since we both made it a point to avoid going through the garage if possible. Sue pulls up and is so shocked and impressed that she’s afraid to park in it! Yes, you heard me right, she doesn’t want to make it dirty.
Oh, the irony.

Kudos to Kerry and crew! Ken, you and your family have many friends who admire you and love and care about you. You are truly our family of heroes.
Speaking of our hero — I hope Kerry left enough room out there to store our stand-ups until we can get them. Stewart wants one that takes song requests, and I want one that does comedy routines, so we will need to order at least two. Install the “Play/Stop” button wherever would be the least painful — it’s your bod, Kenneth! We haven’t discussed price, but please keep in mind that we didn’t get a raise in our Social Security checks last year. What with Virginia’s high taxes plus their Entertainment Tax — @ $1.98 each, it would come to around 35 smackers, so go easy on us!
Prayers for a good night’s rest for all. Always here — hopeful, and waiting for good news.

What can I say, I loved this post from the first word to the last. It put joy into my heart and I thank you for that!!
To Kerry — your company is a class act, and it is so inspiring to see people in our community help others in this way. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. You are awesome!!
Ken, how is Ryan doing so far with his baclofen reduction? I can’t believe he’s almost off of it. But if it weren’t for your continuous efforts and dedication to keeping Ryan stretched and limber, this probably wouldn’t be possible. Amazing you are — both of you!!
With love and hope that continues every day!
