Ryan to get Blood Transfusion
We made the decision to give Ryan two units of blood to get his body’s levels back to normal. With the stress of surgery, we felt it is to his advantage during recovery to have him feeling his best immediately.
Discharge Likely Today
Ryan had a solid twenty-four hours and it appears he will be discharged home directly from ICU. I’m not sure when this will happen and there are a few loose ends that need tied up.
Discharge: In a Day or Two Likely
The twenty-fours hours post-surgery were uneventful. The orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Reeves, did a remarkable job (we did check the x-rays with him). In ICU as Precautionary
Ryan just left recovery and appears to be doing well. He is noticeably more comfortable. We all agreed that he should be monitored in the ICU, as opposed to the surgical floor. The main reason is he had a breathing tube in place during the surgery and this puts him at significant risk for pneumonia.
