We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

We made the decision to give Ryan two units of blood to get his body’s levels back to normal. With the stress of surgery, we felt it is to his advantage during recovery to have him feeling his best immediately.

Discharge Likely Today

January 30, 2012 by Ryan's Rally LLC 1 Comment

Ryan had a solid twenty-four hours and it appears he will be discharged home directly from ICU. I’m not sure when this will happen and there are a few loose ends that need tied up.

Discharge: In a Day or Two Likely

January 29, 2012 by Ryan's Rally LLC 15 Comments

The twenty-fours hours post-surgery were uneventful. The orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Reeves, did a remarkable job (we did check the x-rays with him). That’s not to say Ryan wasn’t uncomfortable overnight. He was. Even with the pain medications taking the edge off. There was some concern he might be developing pnuemonia, but I no longer am […]

In ICU as Precautionary

January 28, 2012 by Ryan's Rally LLC 10 Comments

Ryan just left recovery and appears to be doing well. He is noticeably more comfortable. We all agreed that he should be monitored in the ICU, as opposed to the surgical floor. The main reason is he had a breathing tube in place during the surgery and this puts him at significant risk for pneumonia.
