We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

A Quick List

December 26, 2011 by Ryan's Rally LLC 10 Comments

Today will be more hectic than usual. I’m already running way behind. Please excuse my short post today because of this. Still, I wanted to spend the time to keep you caught up. In numbered form:

  1. Kari. Her throat continues to hurt badly, but no longer from the strep. She clearly has a viral infection with full-blown flu-like symptoms (body aches, chills, fever, etc). She spent yesterday in our bed two floors up. Sue and I took turns tending to each child throughout the day. I spent another night beside Kari while Sue remained down with Ryan.
  2. Baclofen. Ryan will get 20mcg (or 11.4%) decrease on Wednesday (Dec. 28th), taking him to 155mcg. In the year 2011, he will be 270mcg lower than when it started. This is a 63.5% decrease!
  3. Van (Chick Magnet). Can you believe it… it’s still in the shop! As I recall, the van went in before Thanksgiving. The last I heard, the mechanic was waiting on a part being rebuilt in Florida.
  4. Concrete Project. I know this is sounding like I’m in an echo chamber, but work should begin this week (weather permitting, that is). We’re really looking forward to this.
  5. Kitchenette. This is wonderful! Thank you Blue Moon Construction.

Regarding the flu being in our home, Ryan does have protection against it. He was given a flu shot in October and this does give us a little peace of mind. We are taking no chances anyhow. We use the main level of our home as, essentially, a decontamination chamber as we move between the kids.

Thinking of you. Hope Kari feels better. Doc Yocom up there has some good advice, so please do as she says. You betcha she gets lots of practice with all those young’uns! Ken, as for you and Sue, that Listerine gargle does wonders — no kidding — my sore throat is all gone. Hope Kari is the only victim who will fall to this bug! Love to all.

Make Kari some hot totties. It works. I am sure everything will turn out fine. Just takes time. Be blessed this Christmas season, for it has just begun. God Bless us everyone.

Yeah–that’s one thing about a really old car. Somebody in Florida or North Dakota has to be found to rebuild special parts! When the Chick Magnet’s finally back, Lord willing it will provide years of trustworthy service.

Sorry to hear Kari is not feeling well but I am glad she is home not feeling well and not at school. Remember to take care of yourselves as best you can, the very last thing you need is you or Sue getting the flu. Still here.

Kari sweetie — please drink lots of fluids even though your throat is so sore. Try to eat some chicken noodle soup too and maybe some jello. Strep and the flu together is just awful! Stay snuggled up in your bed, it will take a few more days for this to go away. We’re all thinking about you, Kari, and praying for a quick recovery. At least you’re home where your Mom and Dad can take care of you instead of being hours away. Especially during times like this, there’s no place like home.

Ken, thank you for all the updates. I just checked the weather — they’re only predicting rain for Tuesday thank goodness. You’ll have to post some pictures of the patio when it’s done. It’s going to look great!

Praying for a day of many blessings for you and your family.
    Love & hugs, Paula

Thinking of you today. What can you do, just when you thought you would enjoy/spend a Christmas holiday out of the hospital, you are turning your home into a hospital ward. How are the dogs in all this running up and down?
(Our puppy follows everyone around the house, which ever one is on the move.) Duke and Tucker are beyond that puppy stage thankfully for you. Praying for Kari to get over the flu, hopefully you and Sue had the flu shot.
