We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

Duke Caught Red Pawed

October 28, 2011 by Ryan's Rally LLC 14 Comments

Sue believes our bulldog, Duke, can do no wrong. I get it, how can she think an animal that sleeps on her head at night could be anything but sweet? I disagree. I think he’s a bit of a bad ass. What you might call a “closet bad ass”, because he is not usually openly defiant.

Sue would be more inclined to blame me for the urine puddle on the floor than Duke. Okay, so maybe I have peed on the floor once or twice, but in my defense, I was drunk and dreaming I was in a bathroom.

But, let me remove all doubt because I’ve caught him red pawed a few times.

A couple of weekends ago, Kari and I challenged Sue on Duke’s behavior. Yes, he’s a good dog but he is still just a dog… with dog-like instincts. So, we put him to the test. We left a morsel of food on the small table we have in our basement to see if he would take it. Initially, I was ready to apologize to Sue for doubting him.

Then, Sue left to pick-up some medication at the drug store. Duke thought no one was paying close attention, with Kari focused on the computer and me tending to Ryan.

Video doesn’t lie…

I’m with Sue. Duke’s a good pup. He knew this was a set-up and just played along 🙂

Seriously, he cleans off the table, knowing how busy you are and you say he’s naughty? I’m with Sue on this one.

Ken, the video of Duke was enlightening, but what really made an impression on me was not in that video at all. When it ended, it went to a screen of other videos. I was actually cheering for Ryan opening his mouth to drink in and taste the shower water! Between that one and the tickle feet one, it leaves no doubt in my mind that he is there. Thanks for sharing those moments.

Is this the same dog upon which that pesky tick hitched a ride into your home? He’s a cutie, and so is Tucker. Dogs are amazing, and like Bob Barker says, “A person who has never owned a dog has missed a wonderful part of life.” (He also says, “Have your pet spayed or neutered”, but that’s another post for another day.) :o)

Oh Duke, we still love you! How could anyone get mad at Ryan’s best buddy for being a little naughty? It’s such an endearing Diviney trait 🙂

I sincerely apologize if that came out wrong; I was just referring to Ken’s naughty sense of humor. I love all of the Divineys and consider them above any reproach.

Looovve this dawg!! You, too, Tucker. Nothing like a video of Duke (+Tucker + Kari + Dad) to get me going this morning. Very cool! Love to all at your house.
O.K., so do you think you will get some *SNOW* tomorrow? A couple of inches for pretty, right? Any more than that just makes a mess! I’m missing Summer already, but I’ll think about that tomorrow! :-/
