The “Chick Magnet” has taken a major step over the weekend. We received the vanity plates in the mail on Friday. I put them on yesterday… well, sort of. The rear plate went on without issue. The front plate was hopeless. The screws were rusted in place.
It makes sense, since the state it was in before (West Virginia) doesn’t require a plate in the front. I quickly gave up and placed the plate in the front windshield. I’ll work on these another day, probably needing to apply heat to break the screws free.
The tentative plan is to take Ryan out in it today, but the weather might put a stop to that. If we get rain — and it looks like we might — the yard likely certainly be too soft to get him up to the driveway. With all the rain we’ve had in September, it’s already a little dicey.
As much as I want to get Ryan over to Dr. Hinkle for an extensive eye exam, I can’t risk wheeling him up the hill even with people coming to help. I guess we’ll just need to wait and see what happens.

Very cool plates! They are perfect for the Chick Magnet. I suppose when he takes chicks for rides, the name will have to be changed to the Chickmobile. Hoping that day comes soon. The next few days of sunny skies and Autumn breezes are just around the corner; the ground will dry fairly quickly, and then — off you go! That will be a great day! Love and prayers.

Hello Ken, I went into our backyard yesterday and was surprised at how squishy the yard was! I’m also concerned about the ground being too soft for getting Ryan up the hill. I am also eager for Dr. Hinkle to thoroughly check out Ryan’s eyes.
Praying for the earth to dry out a bit more and for an Indian Summer. It’s a beautiful day for a drive, too — oh well, as Dianne said, it’s important to keep you and Ryan safe. Even Hercules would sink in this sodden soil.
Wishing you and Ryan a smooth day together, and praying for continued progress. You sure have done an excellent job helping Ryan to heal and recover — would love to see a new picture soon of the two of you and/or Ryan and Kari & friends (and of course Duke & Tucker).
Love, hugs, prayers always
Paula

That license plate looks so perfect on the van! I don’t know if I’m more excited about the vanity plates or you getting Ryan out of the house to see Dr. Hinkle. Both are very good moves. But I understand that your first concern is Ryan’s safety — and yours! I really hope & pray that we can come up with a good (and inexpensive) accessibility solution. Wishing you both a great day!! SHSP, NGA!
PS: How’s your tick bite?
