I reckon I’m like most people. Well, in a few ways anyhow. I associate songs with times in my life. Just humming a certain song will take me back decades. Yes, it’s a comforting escape, in most cases. It can likewise be heart wrenching. Also, it seems many people have songs they use for inspiration. I do as well. These are the songs that transcend and sustain us.
I’ve always been a huge Moody Blues fan. As long as I can remember, really. I know I have all their music, in various mediums (vinyl, 8-Track, Cassette, CD, and MP3). To me their music is haunting, in an almost progressive, orchestral-like way (I know, I just made up a new genre). I guess it was natural that I fell into one of their songs for… well… I can’t really call it inspiration exactly. The best I can explain it is it has become my anthem in a way.
The song, made in 1987 (or 1988), is I Know You’re Out There Somewhere. It’s a song that is tough for me to listen to, but which I can not resist. It feels like an addiction.
I have posted the link to it from Ryan’s Amazon affiliate program (above), if you want to download the MP3 now. Or just listen on YouTube by clicking here.

Ken — first, is there a way to see on Ryan’s list what the “priority level” is?
Also, is it true that once you click onto Amazon through your link, you can buy anything on Amazon and Ryans Rally will get the credit? My husband said in order for Ryans Rally to get credit, only things from “Ken’s picks” can be selected. I don’t think that’s true…?

I folded Ryan’s Wish List into the store. It seemed to be causing confusion and the mailing address would randomly disappear. With this approach, not only will Ryan benefit from the items purchased but also the Affiliate Program bonus. Buying from the store, my pick’s, my music, etc., will benefit Ryan.

Ken, one of the provocative things about your blog is that one never knows what one will find. This morning my daughter called out, “Did you see Mr. Ken’s blog today Mom?! He talked about the Moody Blues!!” So I ran down and logged on and read your post and listened to the song. I do remember it well and always liked it — but listening to it while thinking of you and Ryan — that was a whole different experience…totally. So after having a boo hoo session, I thought about how deep you run, how deep your love runs for your wife, son, daughter, family and friends — and how powerful your thoughts and words are and how deeply they affect other people. Wow. You are tremendous blessing to so many people, and that is your gift — enormous strength and fortitude in the midst of heartache and pain — you’re an inspiration to so many. Never stop, because you’ve got a lot of people listening and there is always something you write that resonates and is meaningful.
God bless you, Ken, and your beautiful family, and thank you so much for being the blessing that you are to us. Sending love, prayers and good thoughts…always…Paula

Wow, what a great song to embrace as your anthem. I loved Moody Blues back in the day too, but I don’t think I ever paid such close attention to the lyrics of this song. My favorites are “you hear my voice” and “love eternal does not die”. I hope you share all of your uplifting music with Ryan, because he does hear your voice and these beautiful messages. Thank you for sharing this very special song with us, Ken. We love to hear your voice too! Love and prayers for you and your family always <3

Hi Ken,
I do the song thing, too. Proabably because of my incredible love for music. I have this song downloaded on my pod and what an awesome one it is. Sometimes the music is so applicable to a situation you feel it was written for you and sometimes it just lets you breakdown and feel whatever it is you need to feel. It’s a cool thing to find a connection in music and not everyone has that ability. Continuing to keep you all in my thoughts and I know Ryan is in there and out there somewhere….

Ken, I think the reason you cannot resist this song is that it’s true. I KNOW Ryan is there. Who knew that the lyrics to a song from your favorite band would become your anthem? I remember this song growing up and I liked it then, but I wasn’t a Moody Blues fan like you are. However, since I pulled it up on youtube, it’s become an earworm of mine. It keeps playing over & over in my head (as I type) and it’s prophetic.
I hope you & Ryan have a good day — play some tunes & open the windows to catch the great breeze that’s out there this morning. SHSP, NGA!
