Yesterday afternoon we learned that the pneumonia was the result of the lungs taking on blood. An EKG revealed the obvious; Sue’s father suffered congestive heart failure. Had he not already been in the hospital for acute pancreatitis, they say he never would have survived.
He remains in ICU, but has been removed from the respirator. He also has been taken off sedation and is awake (albeit groggy and a bit confused).
His vital signs are good and renal function is working properly. Today will consist of follow-up testing, to include blood work, EKG, x-Rays, and others. It’s still much to early to forecast when he might be discharged.

I am praying for Mr. Burick, and I hope he has a fast recovery and gets out of the hospital asap!! Too many germs in that place for my comfort, and I wish I was there to look after him myself!! God Bless him and a speedy recovery time!!!

Hello Ken, I am sorry Sue’s Dad is going through all of this, and I know how upsetting it must be for Sue. Thank God for modern medicine — they can do so much more now than in years past. I am praying Mr. Burick will respond quickly to the treatment he is receiving. What a good thing that he was in the hospital at the right time so this could be diagnosed. Please let us know if we can help out in any way. Thinking of you guys. Love & prayers, Paula
