From experience, I know people are interested to hear me speak when they can. I really do appreciate this! So, I want to let everyone know I was invited to be on WAJR radio with morning hosts Kay Murray and Jim Stallings. They asked that I come on tomorrow, Friday, May 30, at around 9:05 AM (EDT). They read my post from Tuesday, Skull Surgeries Necessary, about Ryan needing more surgery and asked if they could talk to me about it. No word if they wish to discuss anything else, but with the parole hearing looming (July) I wouldn’t be surprised if they do.
This flagship station broadcasts out of Morgantown and reaches most of the state as well as deep into neighboring states. I’ll ask for an audio tape, but there is never a guarantee that I’ll get one… so set your alarm if you want to hear it live!
Do you remember Austin Vantrease’s mother, Gale, and her asinine, ill-conceived, and disastrous media campaign last year? What in the hell was she thinking? What way of thinking motivated her to personally contact newspapers, radio, and television stations to take to the airwaves to speak? It was nothing short of a blitzkrieg on citizens who really didn’t care much for her family in the first place.
As for me (after getting over the astonishment)… well… I just sat back as she brought heaps of negative attention to her inmate son (Austin Vantrease), while reminding people of Ryan. She did such a fine job of it that I declined interview requests until after the parole hearing.
Normally you don’t (ever) see that type of behavior from a violent felon’s camp.
I simply call this “Vantrease Propaganda”.
Turns out, Gale Vantrease’s foolish escapade only angered more people. I made sure to use nearly everything she said on air at last year’s parole hearing. It would only have been better if she would have typed a transcript for me.
I continue to assert — be it my opinion, yes — that the entire family seems morally and socially unintelligent; which is sometimes referred to as a low “Emotional IQ“. To me, they seem a bit dim-witted in other areas of intellect too, but I can only surmise from my experiences with them and hearing them speak (and scream at me, my daughter, and court deputies). Hey, I’ll leave it to you to make up your own mind on their brain capacity.
I still chuckle at their statements from the earlier years. Then how about the damning statement from his hack-attorney (ah, in my opinion)? It was like I was watching a personal live viewing of Dumb and Dumber! You know, like another sequel… Dumb and Dumber: We Just Ain’t Stoppin’ Gettin’ No Daggone Stupidier. I hear the release date was in 2 – 10 years (pun intended).
Anyway! I’m just being silly and juvenile now. Thank you for allowing me a little comedy relief to let off some steam. Sometimes being that way just seems to help me cope, albeit I usually do that in private. Hey, at least I didn’t resort to name-calling (not unlike my “Poopie Face” rant some time ago)… but I did think about it.
No… seriously… I did. In fact, I completely deleted a paragraph about a certain mustache-donning father, not even fit for a low-budget 70’s porn movie. On second thought, maybe I was thinking of much younger and taller Ron Burgundy. If you are in the mood for more craziness, then you should read the accounts of past statements by the Vantrease faction — these will open a separate browser tab/window — by clicking on the links to follow. As I recall, I didn’t hold back on sharing my thoughts! [I just read both again and I remembered correctly.]
- Austin Vantrease Parole Hearing (2012): My Account (Part 3). September 1, 2012
- Austin Vantrease Parole (2013): 2nd Attempt Denied. July 23, 2013
I can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves this next go-around. It’s always entertaining, if not completely off-topic. Who knows, maybe they’ll try Austin’s sister, Andraya (“Andy”) Vantrease, this time? Seems they’re running out of options.
Austin Vantrease, criminally convicted of felonious Malicious Assault, is currently imprisoned at the St. Mary’s Correctional Center for the incarceration of “felons who have been convicted of severe crimes against man…”
In all seriousness, the people of Morgantown, WV have been so kind to my family. All those in the state of West Virginia have too, for that matter. They treat family as one of their own. It gives me great pleasure to personally update them, because I know how much they care and are interested in my boy.
I just hate it that their wonderful state was unwillingly associated with senseless violence. An act of brutality that they had nothing to do with. Truth is, I know it angers them immensely even though they realize they are not to blame. That rests squarely with the violent attackers, Jonathan May and Austin Vantrease (both of Newark, Delaware).
FOR SOME FUN… check out Ryan’s Facebook Fan Page for “Throwback Thursday” photos! I’ll see if I can find some oldies of myself to upload separately on my personal Facebook page too… if you need a laugh, that is.

Great interview Ken 🙂 <3 Praying for Ryan daily
Ken, as usual you did an excellent job conveying the message of Ryan’s story to the public. Thank you to the radio station WAJR for providing such a wonderful community service. My daughter, who was listening to Ken’s interview as well, asked me several times why we can’t have a radio station like this in our area. I told her that Morgantown is a special place filled with warm, caring people and the radio station reflects those values.
Having said that, both of us became choked up from the pain of knowing how much your family has suffered while the VanTrease and May families have done *absolutely nothing* to help you. Even worse, the Van Trease family has re-victimized your family by making insulting and heartless statements about Ryan, going so far as to come to Ryan’s Rally and attack your family. What would it take, I wonder, for them to ever realize the full extent of the damage their son and his friends so brutally inflicted upon Ryan and your family? I have seen not a glimmer of concern nor a kind word or gesture of apology from any of them. It sickens me.
Ryan will always be relevant to all of us on Team Diviney. As we often like to say here at Ryan’s Rally, we’re still here, and we’re not going anywhere!!
Sending you hugs, love and prayers …… know that Ryan is a treasure to us and just his presence on the planet is a light in this world. And the light is always necessary to counteract the darkness that seeks to attack and destroy what is good.
Blessings dear Ken

You did a great job on the interview, Ken.
UP WITH SARCASM BECAUSE BEATING THE HELL OUT OF PEOPLE IS ILLEGAL!
Lol…Ken, you are hilarious! I bet Ryan and Kari has the best time growing up Diviney. Can’t wait to tune in in the am. My alarm will be set!!
Hello, will there bill another petition of denial to sign to keep this loser in jail? If so count me in and pass it on!

I hope, perhaps, they or you can post a podcast of the interview or something. I wont be home tomorrow morning to listen if it was webcast. My Android can do amazing things, has some amazing apps (if, alas, not one that will move me from point A to point B when I should’ve been at point B 10 minutes ago & I haven’t even left my apartment! My husband always says unlike my beloved mother who was late for everything including her own funeral, “PK is going to live forever! He’s going to forget to die like he forgot everything else!) but aside from an assortment of music, (much of it dreck!) I cant listen to radio. i tried w/my local public radio station that webcasts but it doesn’t work. So, I hope between you & the station, someone can post a podcast on Ryan’s Rally website. Good luck. God bless all of you.
PS Sometimes, it seems, human justice fails. I was reading in the Washington Post of 2 young women (17 & 15) who were granted youthful offender status–wrist slap, i. e.,–after horribly abusing an autistic young man–emotionally, physically & sexually. The older one was slapped on the wrist because “she ahs emotional problems.” Emotional problems my dupa. The young man, alas, doesn’t event understand they abused him, think the young women were his “friends.” We ALL will have to wait till the next world for Justice that humankind cannot provide.
Will be listening, Ken.
Know things will be rougher the next couple of months, but
please let us know how we can help keep that one where he belongs <3
I find it hard to believe that Vantrease will be loosed on us in less than 10 years! Should have been sentenced to the max for taking a life. Let the punishment fit the crime, that is justice.
Justice for Ryan!
Go ahead–make our day! Post some old photos.
