We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

Goodbye, Mom: Marlene Diviney (12/19/1941 – 09/13/2018)

September 13, 2018 by Ryan's Rally LLC 17 Comments

Last Update: Sunday, 09/16/18 at 4:50 AM (Scroll to the bottom to view).

I want to let all friends & family know that my mother, Marlene Diviney (Densham), died last night. She was 76 years old (born December 19, 1941).

I’ll update information related to her services (and her cause of death) when I know more from my sisters, who are with my Dad. My mom and dad faced life for (just three days shy of) 57 years in marriage… or as my mom use to call it, “wedded bliss”… following it up with a playful smirk.

My sisters will be visiting the funeral home later today to work out the details; fortunately, my mom & dad pre-planned most.

For me, well, I will do everything in my power to travel up to my hometown in central Pennsylvania to attend (i.e., I haven’t been back there in around a decade)… and see her for one last time.

Still, this depends on circumstances beyond my control. Ryan seems healthy enough — after a few rough weeks in the hospital and recovering at home with rest/IV antibiotics — but my wife, Sue, was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening with a blood infection (she tried to break up a dogfight… and stuck her hand into the fray).

Ken’s Parent’s Wedding Day. They pose for a photo on the church stairs after eloping to Washington, D.C. (Update: I just learned she will be buried in that same dress).

Please keep my dad in your thoughts. Also, check back from time-to-time for updates.

My sister just told me that my mom will be buried in the exact (wedding) dress she is wearing in the picture (above)! I had no idea.

Sending love and hugs. My deepest sympathy for the loss of your Mom, Ken. Lifting up prayers for healing for beautiful Sue <3 I'm going back to watch the video of you giving Ryan a haircut, for some reason it is the most calming thing.

I’m sorry to see your post Ken. I remember when you were little and lived across the road from us (Chaney’s). Mary Beth and I would play with your sisters. I have vivid memories of your Mom. My condolences to your family,

My heart reaches out to you. I am so sorry your mom died. I do hope you are able to go up and say goodbye. Could you hire a nurse for a day or two? I’d be happy to donate towards that.

Wendy, thank you for suggesting that but I only trust Ryan with 2 other people… one of which is in the hospital and the other is my daughter who is doing her best to cover both bases.
