It took a year, but it could happen next week. Then again, I’ll believe it when I see it. The lift to get Ryan in and out of the Jacuzzi is scheduled to be delivered and installed next week! It should be up-and-running by mid-week. I will definitely capture the moments when Ryan takes his first soak and upload it for all to see.
Before I go any further, I want to thank everyone who helped make this happen for Ryan! Your financial support — from the targeted fundraiser — is (essentially) enough to pay the deductible remaining from insurance. Thank goodness for all of you.
The photograph (right) shows a similar style of lift that Ryan is getting. Although the illustration is showing its application for a toilet and tub, it can be installed just about wherever one likes. People might be most familiar with seeing these over beds in the hospital ICU or critical care units.
What I most look forward to is getting Ryan in the hot tub on a cold winter’s night, with the snow falling all around. There’s really not a more enjoyable scenery than this. Well, when it comes to hot tubs, that is.
This will be so good for him. Sure, it will be relaxing for him but I hope… in some way… it might elicit a memory of something he thoroughly enjoyed from his past. There were so many nights that, as a family, we spent hours in the hot tub and enjoyed each others conversation.
I’d give anything to hear Ryan speak again.
How’s Ryan?
Yay !! Awesome !!
This is the best news I have read in ages! So excited for Ryan mostly!!! 🙂
So glad that worked out for you. That will be very relaxing for Ryan. It looks complicated but I used something like that when I was hospitalized w/a fractured hip 3 years ago & it was so much easier. You don’t have to in any way lift the person into the tub.
Our Prayer Table was washed out, Wednesday. We ahd a sudden thunderstorm out of nowhere. But we have had some very severe weather locally, inc. one that almost washed away downtown Albany the other night. Cars were literally washed away. Also came out of nowhere. Our Mayor was beside herself at the destruction. I hope we have weather next Wednesday like today–80s, low humidity… (Next Wednesday also would’ve been my mom’s 99th birthday!) You are always in my prayers. Hope the weather down there is as glorious as up here today. Driven thru Delaware but never in it! God bless.

That is wonderful!
yippppeeeeeeee!!!! I think this will be a great addition to the things that make his and your lives easier. I pray you see a smile on his face, which I know is in his heart 😉
This will be great. I’m happy Ryan got it.
So cool… I got Coreys spa up and running but waiting for someone to spot me just in case I need help. After I do it the first time I’m sure I’ll have him in there a lot. Hope it helps Ryan.
Thanks for sharing the good news, Ken!!! I am praying you will hear the words you long to hear <3
Yay! Another way to engage him in family time!
I’m so happy for Ryan & the whole fam that y’all are gonna be able to have some relaxing times together in the hot tub. Sounds great — I love hearing good news from the Diviney family! Bless you all & enjoy!
YAY!!!!!
long time coming…….thats a song I remember! Anyway, just in time for Fall season around the corner.
So happy to hear this news! You’ve been waiting a long time! SHSP, NGA! <3
Ken,
So glad the lift is finally coming and know Ryan will enjoy! Hope you all do.
Love to all and a special hug for Ryan “We Got This”
Ken. This is just wonderful. So happy Ryans getting it. Every time I read your posts my heart just aches for Ryan and my little nephew, Matthew that has a TBI too.
Yay! Finally! 🙂
I recently learned of a huge grant that PITT received to perform research on traumatic brain injuries. Don’t know any more about it, but thought of your son and wanted to pass along the tip in case there was an opportunity here for your family. You are doing an amazing job. God bless you all.
So glad that you can finally get this installed! Ryan is really going to enjoy it! Can’t wait to see the pictures, once it’s installed, of Ryan using it for the first time.
