We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

My Birthday Wish is SImple

June 25, 2013 by Ryan's Rally LLC 25 Comments

Today. My birthday. Or, as I call it, just another day. Let’s face it, my only birthday wish will not come true today, if ever. Beyond this, as much as I’d like to kick back and relax, taking full advantage of the inherent laziness that comes with one’s birthday, it’s just not possible. Ryan needs my attention. He will get it.

grow olderWhat I do like about my birthday is it (hopefully) reminds people to check in on Ryan. Yes, that, and I like people telling me to have a happy birthday as much as the next guy.

Oh, and it it gives me a legitimate excuse for proudly wearing my birthday suit! Granted, it’s no less offensive to others and they might bellyache about it… but not quite as forcefully. Then there’s the law that seems to have an adverse stance against it that I’ll need to consider. Women don’t seem to like it either. Men seem a bit be more tolerant. To hell with social norms, I’m going “all out” if the opportunity presents itself.

Fair warning… that’s not a noisemaker!

So, thank you for remembering me today as my 49th year on this earth is acknowledged. Even though I will do absolutely nothing differently, it does mean a hell-of-a-lot to me that people are thinking of me; and by extension, Ryan. As much as people (myself included) like to play off their birthday, don’t we all secretly want to be remembered and receive the well wishes?

Several have asked me if there’s anything they can do for me today. The answer is yes, they most certainly can. It’s simple, really… Keep Ryan relevant. Here a just a few ways you can make this happen.

Happy Birthday Ken! A hot day for a “Hot Guy”. Hot and humid in Baltimore today. I’m sure your girls (Sue and Kari) will take care of you today, I can smell the grill already.
Agree with Grey, Ryan is always relevant!

Happy Birthday! I can’t imagine how hard it must be to “celebrate” your birthday when the one gift you want seems so impossible and unreachable…I know people always say “it can be worse” but it can be way better too! I was guilty of saying that until I got breast cancer and when people would say it to me I just wanted to shake them to make them understand how much this sucked! I’m by no means trying to compare my issues with what Ryan is going through, completely different, and I understand that. I pray that Ryan will continue to progress and that one day you will get your birthday gift, even if it’s not on your actual birthday.
I have been trying to purchase some stuff for Ryan on Amazon and I’m having hard time finding it and when I click on the link you provided it does not let me check out…weird. Is there something I’m missing?

Hi Ken, love your comment, “that’s not a noisemaker” hahahhahaha … I’m not sure but I think this might be a recent tradition of yours? Anywho, you don’t look 49 that’s for sure – must be in the family genes. Here’s a birthday toast and a big hug from me. Wishing you peace in your heart, and hoping that you feel the love that surrounds you.

Love, hugs, still here and still praying
