It wasn’t until ten o’clock last night, but it finally happened. The IV line was placed and the first dosage of antibiotics were given. Let’s all just hope this works. Like most things, it wasn’t easy.
In fact, it came down to the last attempt to find a good vein. The sad fact is that Ryan’s veins have been used so many times that it is difficult to find a good one.Â
A couple more notable things are happening today. First, Ryan will be transported (with me) to radiology to get another MRI. This is to help determine the exact location and position of the Celect IVC filter. There’s concern that the filter has shifted and is putting him at risk of puncturing the large vein that joins the leg veins to the heart (inferior vena cava). Our hope is it’s in an alignment that we can surgically retrieve it, which is a relatively easy procedure… given it’s in good position.
Secondly, one of Ryan’s largest fundraisers take place today. The Greg Wells Team (RE/MAX) second annual golf tournament at the 1757 Club in Ashburn. It is my intent to attend about the time the golfer’s make their way back to the clubhouse for a dinner. Then this is followed by an auction. Our thanks to all the sponsors, donators, and Greg Wells.

Taking this opportunity to wish SUE, a devoted, dedicated and loving Mom a peaceful Mother’s Day. The kind of Mother’s Day where your soul is rejuvenated by the love that surrounds you. Where your heart feels gratitude for all the “little” things. Where any hurt residing in your heart is instead replaced with the ability to “just be”… to be in the moment without fear, anxiety or worry entering your heart allowing you to truly enjoy the loving energy obviously surrounding you, bringing you closer to your genuine self, because your genuine self is BEAUTIFUL.
I am praying for you TODAY and always…
With love and in prayers,
Keri, MY Frankie and Family

We have just returned from WVU graduation. Ryan and Dave were on all our minds. This graduation is so bittersweet. Hannah had some funny Ryan stories that I’m sure you have already heard. I’m glad your day was eventful with the golf outing. Still here with a heavy heart tonight.

Beautiful day for golf, which hopefully means a successful event!!
I’m happy to hear that IV was sufficient. I know it concerns you when you have to take him out and possible exposure…. Hopefully this will knock it out for good.
And last but not least, Happy Mother’s Day Sue! I’m sure Ken will grill up something great for you, beautiful weather forecast for Sunday!

I’m so relieved that the antibiotics were started last night. Lord, please let them work!! Poor Ryan having to go through those needle sticks to find a vein. Which antibiotic are they giving Ryan?
Thank God for this beautiful day for Ryan’s fundraiser. To Greg Wells, I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting you, but thank you for everything you’re doing to make this a successful fund raiser for Ryan. You kindness is deeply appreciated!! Thanks to everyone who is participating too!!
I’ll stay tuned for the latest updates on how Ryan is doing with the new medication. Lord please make this infection go away!!
Ken, I’m thinking about you and your family. Thank God you are such a smart, driven, strong man!!!

Yesterday and today, I am reading about e-coli infections of the urinary tract, and learning that this infection calls for a prayer vigil, so let’s please continue, Ryan’s Rally. Sometimes I wish that I were not so curious, but, like most of who read and write here, I was born this way. This along with the fact that we want to know about everything that concerns Ryan. Thank you, Ken, for blessing us by keeping us informed and up-to-date. Ken, have you read about the vaccine to prevent a certain strain of E-Coli? Just wondering — probably not for the strain that is causing Ryan’s infection. (?)
There is so much going on with Ryan, Ken, I don’t know how you keep up. Please keep your own good health under consideration. 🙂
We will wait for news of the MRI and hope and pray that the filter can be removed without complications.
Three cheers and big thanks for those who signed up for the golf tournament. I hope there are many golfers out there today golfing for Ryan. Just look at the gorgeous day God has given you to enjoy the outdoors on the golf course! Good luck to all.
Always here with much love and many prayers.

thoughts and prayers are with you all for successful retreival of the filter and a great fund raiser- I know this has probably been visited a million times- but is there a reason why Ryan can’t have a picc line or an infusaport placed?
