Ryan is still on for surgery to have a metal rod driven into his right femur to repair a complete break of the bone. It’s scheduled for eight o’clock this morning. Overnight, he didn’t appear in immense pain, but was certainly hurting. He was kept on a steady flow of pain medications. Although necessary, this was made worse because of the numerous blood draws and X-rays throughout the night.
So, before too much longer things will start getting busy as they prepare him for surgery and we have our requested final consultation with the surgical team. I’m not clear on how long the operation will take, but will post updates here on the website as I know them.
We’ll be so relieved when this is all finally done and we get back home. I feel bad for Ryan that he hurts and is certainly hungry. He hasn’t had any food in well over twenty-four hours and he probably won’t be getting any for a while after the surgery. I admire him so much.

Yes, Ryan is certainly a very strong and courageous young man — we admire him too. He is a fighter and survivor with an amazing family fighting for him every step of the way. We are lifting you all up in prayer and hope that you can bring Ryan back home to continue his recovery in good health ASAP. Much love to you, Divineys!

Hope you got a little shut eye last nite. The idea of an epidural is great! From my experience the patients are more comfortable cause they keep an even level of pain meds in the blood. You can even give an extra little bonus every so often. Patients do better it seems when they are not in pain, funny thing. You can turn them, suction, whatever with more confidence you will not cause unbearable pain. Good luck during the procedure, get some shut eye. Prayers your way.

Thank you for updating the blog so faithfully–I’m not on Facebook, so I wouldn’t otherwise know what’s going on. It is very considerate of you to keep us in the loop, even while you are in the midst of crisis. Thank you!
