Ryan was taken to the operating room around 9:15 am. He seemed to be in good condition going in The surgery is expected to take “a couple hours”. Then another hour in recovery.
For those that remember, this is a stressful situation. On two previous occasions he came out of surgery with extremely high temperatures. One reached 106.8 degrees. Th other was 109.8 degrees. Before you wonder, no, 109.8 is not a typo. I could feel the heat radiating off him from across the room.
The temperatures were most likely a typical response to stress from brain injury, but we never ruled out it might be anesthesia-induced. So, today Ryan is getting some of the most basic and stable medicine to put him under.
Have been thinking of and praying for you all day! I’m happy to hear Ryan will be in ICU….the one-on-one care must give you comfort.
Ken, I hope you took your sweet Kari’s advice and are trying to get some rest. With the extra help at the hospital, a nap might be just what the doctor ordered for you, too.

Good to know that the doctors are listening to you and accepting your input for Ryan’s care. You are so in tune to Ryan and how his body reacts. Sounds like your input isbeing well received and respected…huge milestone Ken when it comes to Ryan’s care. Now there’s a positive edge to the situation! Still here and praying Ryan comes through the surgery much better than his past experiences. Love, Peggie
