I’m looking forward to today. Very much. I’ll be heading to Morgantown, West Virginia to spend some time with my daughter, Kari. Sure, it will be a whirlwind couple of days (it always is) — filled with shopping, eating, and more shopping — but she makes me so happy. I (mostly) don’t care what we’re doing, just as long as we are doing it together.
Kari makes me laugh almost endlessly. We get along so well. Like Sue tells me, she is the only person who I will voluntarily leave the house. It’s true too. Sue just shakes her head and when she tells people I have trouble just going to the mailbox. That’s also true. Is that a bad thing?
Funny, I don’t consider this a sacrifice. Not one iota. I’m where I want to be. I’ve always been somewhat of a home body anyhow.
So, I get to thinking, when was the last time I drove? Technically, the last time was when we took Ryan to see Dr. Hinkle. But, what I mean is the last time I went more than a mile or so. As far as I can remember, it was in early August. I drove a U-Haul to move Kari into her college house. Wait. I take that back. I drove to New Jersey in September to return some therapy equipment. I guess I’ll have to count that.
Baclofen Update
The reduction went off without a hitch… so far. I already sent in a request for another reduction. Hey, it’s easier to cancel it (if necessary). I’d rather have this in place and make a final decision to call it off later.
Patio Update
The rough draft plans just came in (at around 6:15 am). I can already see some minor tweaks I’ll want, but this should give you an idea of the work involved.
Ryan’s Wish List/Store
I was paying attention to the comments yesterday (as I always do) and was upset that I did a poor job on the Store. So, I made some changes to how this works. It should make things easier. I’m sorry the prior set-up was causing grief (I had no idea). Here are the changes:
- Moved and provided a link to an Amazon registry for Ryan’s Wish List. This already includes our shipping address. Items purchased from the registry should update automatically.
- Included instructions on how to get free shipping (when eligible).
- For products that I could, included national chains that also carry it (but you should check with the local store too).
If you would, I created an opinion poll (below) on the new layout and would appreciate feedback… good and/or bad. I want to make this as easy to use as possible. Don’t worry, you can’t offend me… I’m married!

Hi Ken – Just wanted to say I stumbled on your webiste a year ago or better, and there is a group of us here in The Woodlands, just North of Houston, TX, pulling for your family! I’ve had the privilege of sending things via the store (in the prior format) as I could, and this is a TERRIFIC new format (though the other one seemed fine too)! Blessings to you and your beautiful family! We’re here every day in prayer!

Ken,
Who wouldn’t want to spend time with Kari? That beautiful girl of yours exudes life. Take in every moment and make sure you both set up another time to do it again SOON.
There truly is nothing more therapeutic than family. Especially when family is as incredible as yours. 🙂
Lots of love,
Cass

There you go again! Impressing us with your artistic ability! I had to lie down to get the proper perspective, however–just sayin’ !! Nah–just kidding–it really looks great. Now then, are we going to have a Grand Sidewalk Opening party? When will it be completed, if you have any idea? We’ve had such nice weather, wishing it could have been finished now. Getting cold now–32 here this morning.
A road trip! Finally! So happy you are going. Yes, we here worry that you don’t get out enough and hope you are taking supplements, esp. Vit. D (see how we worry!). We know you know the importance of sunshine. And, of course the importance of socialization can’t be over-emphasized, but you are a wise man; you already know this.
Good news about the Baclofen reduction. Praying especially for more noticable awareness as it is decreased.
Have a good time, a safe trip and say “Hi” to Kari. Love and prayers always with much hope and faith.

Hey Ken, Have fun and take warm clothes. Heard there might be snow up in Garrett County last nite not sure if it will make it over to Morgantown. Jon works at Coach’s Bar and Grille on the weekend days so go over there and eat, drink and be merry and he will take care of you and Kari! Give him another hug for me. Good mom and Ryan time for Sue this weekend.

Last time I planted a kiss on his forehead, in front of a packed table.

I’m sure he appreciated that.

Oh yea! Go ahead and go for it again.
