We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

I Hated the Night to End

September 17, 2011 by Ryan's Rally LLC 14 Comments

Everything’s set-up for a great weekend. Our daughter, Kari, is home from WVU until Sunday evening. Ryan seems as though he is responding to the antibiotic. West Virginia University plays Maryland at noon today. The Redskins play the Cardinals at 1:00pm tomorrow. We should have overnight nursing coverage (thank goodness). I see nothing preventing me from some quality nap time. Yep, everything is in place.

Duke with his "game face" on.

It’s just so wonderful with Kari home. I missed her so much. She breathes life back into me.

So, we all piled into Ryan’s room last night, dogs included, just talking and laughing until around midnight. Without an inch to spare, Kari, Sue, Duke, and Tucker laid on the single bed next to Ryan. I begrudgingly settled for the rocking chair, jealous that I couldn’t put my arms around Kari. I was sad when we gave in to exhaustion and went to bed.

I hated the night had to end.

As for Ryan, he had a restful night. I’d like to think he felt the love and peace of being surrounded by his entire family and this calmed him. I might never know, but it doesn’t prevent me from hoping.

Welcome home, sweet Kari! Ryan is feeling the love of all of you surrounding him, Ken I still will always believe that you will know this. I will forever have hope that when he is ready and able he will return to you, blessing all of us with his strength and courage.

Sue, I have missed our talks. Your sweet and gentle nature is only surpassed by your immense love for your family and strength from within. I hope to see you soon, my dear friend!

As for Duke, oh Duke! I think he is posing to show us his best side. Though really any side is good with Ryan’s cutest protector. Good night Ken, Sue, Ryan, Kari and Duke…oops, Tucker too:)

Ken, I am sure it is an oversight that the picture Kari took and posted of cousin “Kenabilita” is missing from this blog?

Yea Kari is home!!!!! I’m guessing Kari is the one who got Duke all dressed for todays game. That outfit and that game face, Duke is looking sharp. Sounds like you all are ready for some Mountaineer football. So glad to hear that you had such a wonderful evening. Oh yes, Ryan did indeed feel the love. XOXOXOXOXOXXOXOXO
