We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

Baclofen.

Before I get into the latest enhance to the website, I want to give an update on the baclofen pump reduction. Ryan is not having any obvious negative reactions to the reduction. One thing that I haven’t published is I pushed the reduction a bit lower than the recommended maximum of 10%. Ryan’s daily infusion rate was decrease from 400 mcg to 350 mcg, a 12.5% reduction.

This decision was based on so many factors and variables, but when it came right down to it, it just felt appropriate. I made the call and it scared me. Now you know why I was even more tense than usual. Obviously, I had discussions with his neurologist. He has confidence in my assessments and wrote the order.

I added, what I think is, a neat feature to the Gallery. When you click on any picture it will open a viewing window. From there you are viewing the pictures in slideshow format. Just click the arrows to go forward or backward, moving from picture to picture. I hope you like it.

…and before you ask, yes, I will add more pictures soon!

Hi Ken! Totally understand your nervousness. Sometimes as parents we have to do things for our kids and then we start second guessing ourselves. You are so diligent Ken, and so on target; but this is why they call medicine an “art” in addition to a science. Fortunately, since you are so well versed in the intricate nature of Ryan’s care, you are the best person to make these judgement calls. I can only imagine the stress you must feel about shouldering this responsibility 24/7.

You have been and continue to do a phenomenal job providing top notch care for Ryan. I am praying for continued good health, healing and a smooth response to the baclofen decrease. Will be interested to know the increase of Ryan’s alertness as the dosage is gradually decreased.

Thinking of you and your beautiful family.
Love, prayers, believing in great things to come!!
