We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

A Lot of Busy Work

May 26, 2011 by Ryan's Rally LLC 10 Comments

Paperwork!

This day just got away from me right from the start. I was playing catch-up, but losing ground even faster. The pisser is it had nothing to do with Ryan directly. Well, at least not in his ordinary day-to-day care.

I blame my old All-in-One color Printer/Copier/Fax. Granted, its given us a good nine years of dependable work. But, it’s age is showing. Not that it’s breaking down… it simply can not keep up with the new demands technology places on it. It’s the horse and buggy in the jet age. With a ton of legal and medical paperwork to scan, print, copy, and PDF it became frustrating on my first task! Oh, how I miss my old work printer! What took me hours this morning would have been completed in half-an-hour, tops. You never really miss automatic document feeder until you’re scanning a single page at a time. Well, at least that’s what I always say.

It’s now just after 6:00 PM and with Ryan in the Hyperbaric Chamber I have a brief window of time to write. If I forego vacuuming and mopping the floors I might even be able to put out a halfway decent post. Hmmm. Naw, better not put it off.

Ken, I thought about you and Sue a lot today. After hours in the emergency room with my Mom (everything is ok now), and multiple debates with nurses and doctors, we finally got to take her home to rest. It got me thinking about how extremely difficult it is to balance between what doctors tell you and what you know in your heart (often two totally different things). There is no right answer, but I often have to restrain myself from screaming at them “you have no idea!!!!”. I don’t mean this as a doctor bash at all…I just feel like I’m going in circles
I’m sorry I got a bit off topic (don’t get me started about my own printer:). I just wanted to share this with you and let you know that you and your amazing family are always in my thoughts.

Yes, Ken DO “forego vacuuming and mopping the floors”.

Housework is such a routine, unproductive, ignoble task. Like I always say, “I sweep/clean the corners and scrub/mop the floor real good—and I have to do it all over again in SIX MONTHS!”

Oh, did I tell you that LAUGHING is a wonderful release, too…..?

    Ken,

I have a printer/copier/fax machine at home that I received as a gift. I unwrapped it, set it up, and have never touched it since! If you would like it, just let me know and I’ll drop it off at your house!

That would be awesome! We are getting into a lot of legal documents, and this is just the beginning.

Ken, you are the very definition of disciplined!! I know what a great writer you are, and how much we enjoy reading your posts — that floor and rug must have really needed mopping/vacuuming for you to tackle it instead of writing. You definitely need a new printer that can handle everything. Not to mention, you don’t need the aggravation nor the waste of your precious time when you have so much to do.

Hoping you get an opportunity to just rest for a bit. Thinking of your family and of course praying for Ryan through the day.
    Love & prayers, Paula
