"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. IBRF Accepts Ryan!

January 25, 2011 by Ryan's Rally LLC 37 Comments

Sue just hung up the phone with the International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF) moments ago. Ryan is accepted into their program! You can visit their website by clicking here.

internationalbrain.org

They are ready to move forward with Ryan’s treatment.

Here is a quick rundown of what they told Sue:

  • Ryan showed improvement since his last qEEG. They didn’t indicate how much.
  • They feel Ryan has enough brain structure to work with.
  • They will coordinated getting Ryan in for a 3T-MRI so the 3-D electronic brain model can be built. This is important because it will show, in great detail (1 millimeter slices) the pathways in Ryan’s brain. They can then simulate impulse therapy to determine where to place electrodes on his head.
  • We will hold weekly video-conference calls.
  • Ryan will be placed on intense pharmaceuticals and nutriceuticals. Sadly, these are costly and not covered by insurance (estimates $20,000 per year).
  • The doctor team will visit Ryan, in our home, monthly.
  • They have allowed us to spread the balance for their services out. So far, $25,000 has been paid and another $25,000 will go out today. That, for all intents, taps us out. I’ll need to get creative and also heavily rely on others to pull us through this.

This, my friends, is a great day!

WOW!!!!This is the best news & exactly what we have all been praying for. I actually screamed when I read the post! I know when I think of Ryan & how his day may be going I feel an energy from all of the people that are also thinking & praying for him & all of the Divineys. The prayers are strong & powerful. Just look what they and all of Ken & Sue’s hard work have accomplished! Stay strong Ryan you are so close!

PS…just thought it was funny that the Google add on my cellphone at the top of the post read ‘apply for medicaid’!! Ironic? Coincidence?

Wow, great news. As far as a fund raiser in Morgantown, I know there is talk of one happening this spring. Maybe it should be bumped up. I will pass along any information I get. Again, I am so happy for all of you. You go Ryan!!!!!

OK. I send my two kids, who are in college, money every month…, and I am going to make a donation for Ryan each time I send Caitlin and Evan money. If I had the $25,000 I would just give it to Ryan…..and I don’t even personally know Ryan or the Divineys. As the saying goes, sometimes “you do something because it is the right thing to do”. I do this because of that and because I know if one of my children was in Ryan’s position my heart would be broken. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like broken hearts. So come on folks, do this because it is the right thing to do.
I just donated $100.00. Anyone want to match that?

I am sitting at my desk literally sobbing with joy for Ryan and your family. I can’t tell you how hard I have been praying for this news!! We will all find a way to help you continue with Ryans’ care. I wish I were closer to particiapte in Fund Raisers and Collections. Perhaps another challenge on Facebook, with over 8,500 members, a small donation from all of us could add up to a good chunck of change. I’m so so happy for your news today and I can imagine you and your family are just elated!! I’ll continue to check in and keep up looking for more and more good news~~

Everyone, talk to your local churches, charities, corporations — for Ryan’s sake, be bold, don’t be afraid to ask for help on Ryan’s behalf, you might be surprised who is out there and is willing to help, we can do this, each one of us can do something!!! Pray about it, ask the Lord for help and direction, c’mon, Ryan has worked so hard and his parents and sister have gone above and beyond to get Ryan to where he is, let’s get this done for Ryan!!!

Ken, 2 years ago today, Annie’s mentor took his own life after years of too much pain. The most unselfish man we knew. Dan also had suffered an head injury and had some brain trauma that he fought with short term memory issues for years and years. We choose today to think he had a hand in getting you this answer today. It helps. Love.
