We Got This!

"I tell him I tried. I tried to keep memory alive; I tried to fight those who would forget. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. There is so much injustice & suffering crying out for our attention. We must take sides. We must interfere. -E.W.

My Daughter’s Toast: To Me, Her Dad

June 14, 2013 by Ryan's Rally LLC 21 Comments

My Daughter, Kari, is taking some college classes over the summer. She is wanting to make sure she not only graduates from WVU on time next May, but also is getting a minor in Business. She is just entering her senior year. Needless to say, I’m proud of her ambition and commitment. She has a strong GPA, and actually has a 4.0 in her major!

In addition to taking an online class in finance (for her minor), she is taking a speech class.

I wanted to share her latest assignment. It required her to give a two-minute “toast” on the topic of her choice. I was touched to find that she did it to me!

The thing is, I never would have known if she hadn’t done it on my laptop and then I accidentally come across it early this morning.ย I hope she’s okay with me sharing this (since she’s still asleep), but I’m just so damned proud that I’ll take the risk.

Great toast, Kari! I know you’ll ace this project. I had an equally awesome dad. I miss him everyday. You’re so lucky to still have him. Love you all!

Kari, your toast to your Dad is so beautifully stated – I can only imagine the joy you put into his heart every single day. He is so proud of you and all that you’ve accomplished, but mostly because you are a phenomenal person. I hope your family has a wonderful Father’s Day together!!
